Sandy first represented GB aged 18 and represented GB internationally for the next 17yrs . Her handicap was plus 3 (-3). She then turned Professional and qualified and played on The Ladies European Tour.
She partnered Laura Davies, for Surrey foursomes and then became Surrey Champion several times. She was awarded a golf and academic scholarship to University of Florida . All square with Catriona Matthew with a birdie on the 18th, she lost to a birdie on the 19th in the semi final of the British Championship. She won several Major National Scratch events including The Astor Salver 1994/95, 5 under par, The Critchley Salver 1994, The Keighley Trophy and others. At 18 she was Under 23 British Champion and runner up in the English Championship after both wrists being in plaster for the previous 3 months. She also holds several course records.
She retired from the International Golf Circuit due to injury and worked as a Financial Consultant in London. After a 10 year injury break and 2 children she learned a completely new swing to minimise injury and reached International level (plus 3) once again. This has given her great insight into how to change an established swing through mental and physical practice, which has proven very helpful to her students. She has also spent considerable time exploring injury prevention working with physiotherapists from the National Sports Centre including over 10 years of Pilates strengthening.
Coaching is Sandy's passion, her approach is holistic. Rather than following a prescriptive method, Sandy stands out in her ability to identify the precise cause in the swing which is then modified to allow her student to maximise their full potential. Using her vast experience as a player, combined with her scientific knowledge of the swing learned from her Bachelors and Masters Golf Machine courses, her solutions are easy to absorb, feel relatively natural and have immediate effect. Sandy specialises in curing the Yips and Shanks.
Sandy is quick to identify the client's preferred learning style and adjust her teaching accordingly. Pupils also benefit from her wide knowledge of course management, fitness, nutrition, and mental aspects of the game. She achieved Honours in Sports Psychology part degree at Bucks University. Sandy continuously supports her pupils through the learning process and regularly monitors their progress via text and e mail. Her clientele, now over 1000, over half of whom are single figure handicappers, are mostly personal recommendations from existing pupils.
